LONE TREE

Lone Tree, located approximately 15 miles southwest of Iowa City remains largely and agricultural community. The name of the town came from the fact that it had only one tree on the prairie between the Iowa and Cedar River. It served as a guide to Indians and pioneers alike for decades. Nestled amid the farm fields of southern Johnson County, Lone Tree has its own school district, a few shops, and is within easy driving distance of Iowa City/Coralville.
