Swimming

• IOWA CITY EELS: The Eels swim team hosted the 2004 Iowa Swimming Summer State Championships Friday through Sunday at Mercer Park Aquatics Center.

The Eels won the combined state team trophy and the age group trophy at the meet.

Individual groups winning their age division were the 8-and-under girls; 8-and-under boys; 11-12 girls; 11-12 boys and senior women.

Individual high point winners were Lilian Zhu, 8-and-under, first; David Tao, 8-and-under, first; Beth Eyanson, 11-12, first; Shelby Doehrmann, 11-12, third; and Kanoe Russell, 11-12, second.

The Eels also won the sportsmanship award at the meet.

ALLIANCE ADRENALINE U11: The Adrenaline finished second in the Des Moines Got Milk? 3v3 Shootout.

The Adrenaline had a 4-2 record after losing to the Lincoln Bad Boys in a penalty kick shootout in the finals.

Strong play was provided by Sterling Harris, Daniel Larew, Taylor McBurney, Michael Thomas and Brian Wall.
