Four members of Solon's top-ranked
softball team earned first-team all-conference honors in
the Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference, it was announced.
Clear Creek Amana, which will join Solon at next week's
state tournament, had three first-team members.
Freshman pitcher Courtney Strang was a unanimous selection
for the Spartans. Junior catcher Lindsey Kidwell, junior
infielder Quinn Morelock and freshman outfielder Jenny
Schuelke joined her on the first team.
Sophomore outfielder Kelsey Kidwell made the second team.
Senior infielder Laura Wright made the first team for
the Clippers, joining senior utility player Shallyn Duffy
and sophomore Taylor Leichsenring.
Senior pitcher Sam Sheeley made the second team for Clear
Creek Amana, as did senior catcher Molly Ruth, sophomore
infielder Kelsey Kahler and senior outfielder Angela Ganschow.
Regina junior outfielder Carly DuCharme was the other
unanimous selection to the first team. Senior infielder
Kelsey Home-wood also made the first team, along with
senior utility player Hope Coffin.
Sophomore infielder Nikki Fleck made the second team
for Regina, and senior Ashton Donahue joined her as a
utility player.
Senior infielder Ali Hartzler, junior outfielder Stef
Shalla and sophomore pitcher Katie Watkinson each made
the first team for Mid-Prairie. Junior catcher Brooke
Kaalberg and freshman outfielder Emily Hershberger made
the second team.
Junior catcher Danielle Armbruster made the first team
for West Branch, while senior infielder Monica Tucker
made the second team.
Jess Huinker of Williamsburg made the second team as
senior infielder, and West Liberty senior Jennifer Davis,
utility, also made the second team.
